This week has seen some important public statements from candidates about their plans to constrain Big Oil, Gas, and Coal's expansion and implemented a controlled wind-down of fossil fuel production that addresses environmental injustices and strengthens labor protections. WASHINGTON — After a coalition of progressive groups began pushing for the Democratic National Committee to hold a presidential primary debate focused on climate change, CREDO, Oil Change U.S., and others issued the following joint statement:
“Climate change is the most urgent crisis facing our country, and it’s wreaking havoc on communities from Miami, Florida,
His plan to combat climate change includes passing a Green New Deal, committing to ban fracking, new fossil fuel infrastructure, and fossil fuel leases on public lands, and ending the export of coal, natural gas, and crude oil.
Ending fossil fuel extraction on public lands is both necessary and obvious. Our public lands should be used for public good, not for oil industry profits at the expense of our climate and communities.
